Main Sequence

The energy trying to expand the star is caused by fusion of hydrogen to form helium in the core.

This is called hydrogen 'burning' but this is not burning like a fire but nuclear fusion like in a hydrogen bomb.

The nuclear fusion releases a large ammount of energy.

After 10,000 million years the hydrogen is used up.....
